Strategy
Chessiecap Strategy Services concentrates on improving a company's performance in advance of an expected transaction and then creating deliverables that facilitate high-value transactions. Our strategy services team has built business plans and corporate presentations that have raised over $250 million in funds and driven multiple successful M&A and spin-out transactions.
As part of our strategy process, we examine every aspect of a client's operations, including:
- Key market drivers
- Current market position
- Optimal positioning and feature-set for products
- Future roadmap for offerings
- Corporate sales process
- Steps to bring products to market and build partnerships to extend market reach
- Strategic positioning against competitors
- Optimal operational and organizational structure
- Cross-functional milestones to reach the next level in the marketplace
- Current financial position and transaction needs
We then provide clients with a comprehensive operational roadmap over a 12- to 24-month period and position the client effectively for a future transaction. Typical deliverables include:
- Business Plan —is a comprehensive approach to creating the document that investors use to make financial decisions. It provides a complete view of a business and enables investors and buyers to quickly assess whether they are interested in "taking the next step" with a company. The transaction cycle is shortened, and the client's story becomes more polished and remains consistent throughout the transaction process.
- Corporate Presentation and Executive Summary —are the tools used to create initial interest in a transaction for our client. Both documents provide a high-level view of a company's strategy and operations. They also convince potential investors or buyers that the company has a professional approach to the market, customers, and transactions.
- Operating Plan —provides a detailed cross-functional roadmap for operating a business over a 12- to 24-month period. In addition, an operating plan can serve as the factual basis for creating an investment-grade business plan. When a company is seeking outside investment or a sell-side transaction, the Operating Plan serves as the lead due diligence document for investors and can lessen the demands placed on the management team during the due diligence process.
- Partnership and Marketing Plans —take a company's Operating Plan and delve deeper to build plans for detailed, tactical execution. Chessiecap has extensive experience building alliances and partnerships that extend a company's market and product reach. We have also built marketing plans that have resulted in a successful product launch or new market entry.
- Integration Plan —helps ensure that transactions are successful by creating a plan to integrate an asset into an acquiring company and operate it on an on-going basis. The Integration Plan covers the target market, go-to-market strategy, product strategy, organization, and financial performance of the asset post-transaction. It is built in conjunction with the management team of the acquiring company and the employees that come with the asset.
